PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team was defeated by Boston College, 6-0, on Wednesday, April 19 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
GAME NOTES
-Boston College's Hannah Slike hit an RBI single to right center field to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage in the top of the first inning.
-In the top of the second, the Eagles' Nicole Giery homered to center field to bring in three runs. Boston College held a 4-0 lead.
-Sophomore
Kaelyn Loncharich (Yucaipa, Calif.) made a diving catch to help keep the Eagles scoreless in the top of the fourth inning.
-The Eagles added insurance in the top of the fourth with a two-run home run from Gianna Sarlo.
-Freshman
Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.) started in the circle for the Friars pitching 2.0 innings. She allowed five hits while striking out two batters. Senior
Elysia Cunnigan (Corona, Calif.) pitched 4.0 innings surrendering five hits. Sophomore
Jessica Walters (Middletown, Del.) closed the game for the Friars.
-Loncharich had the lone hit for the Friars.
ON DECK
The Friars will host Seton Hall University in a three-game BIG EAST series beginning on Friday, April 21.
