NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Providence College softball team defeated Saint Louis, 4-2, and Lipscomb, 4-1, in day two of the Purple and Gold Challenge on Saturday, March 4 in Nashville, Tenn.
 
GAME ONE NOTES
-Saint Louis got on the scoreboard in the first inning scoring two runs. 
-Junior 
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) homered to center field to get the Friars on the board, 2-1. 
-The Friars took the lead with a two RBI double from freshman 
Julia Renny (Syosset, N.Y.). Providence led 3-2. 
-In the fifth inning, junior 
Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) hit an RBI single extending the Friars lead to two. 
-Senior 
Elysia Cunnigan (Corona, Calif.) pitched a complete game for the Friars striking out seven batters. 
 
GAME TWO NOTES 
-The Friars scored two runs on fielders error in the second inning to give them a 2-0 advantage. Freshman 
Gabriella Lee (Belmont, Calif.) and sophomore 
Lea Kosinski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) scored the runs.
-Sophomore 
Hanna Aldrich (Taunton, Mass.) hit a two RBI in the third inning to extend the Friars lead to 4-0.
-Grifone pitched a complete game for the Friars striking out nine batters.
 
ON DECK 
The Friars will play Youngstown State on Sunday, March 4 in their final game of the Purple and Gold Challenge in Nashville, Tenn.
