The Providence College Pep Band
The rockin' heart of the Providence College Friars' basketball and hockey games
The PC Pep Band is an instrumental group of approximately 40 members that plays at Men and Women's basketball and hockey games. The Band rehearses weekly on Monday evenings from 6:00-7:15 PM in the Smith Center for the Arts.
The Pep Band is always looking for new members! We feature full brass, saxophone, and rhythm sections. No auditions are required for membership. All students with an instrumental background are welcome; new members who do not already play a brass, saxophone, or rhythm section instrument are expected to obtain necessary proficiency. Any student who does not have their own instrument should inquire about availability of school instruments.
Pep Band is a course that is easy to register for. It requires you to attend 80% of the games the band plays at each semester but does adapt it's schedule to not conflict with exams and school holidays.
Each year, 30 members of the Band travel with the Men's Basketball team in early March to the BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden in NYC, and play nightly for the duration of the team's success in the tournament.
