Complete 2012 XC All-American Release
NEW ORLEANS - The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) officially announced on Monday, Nov. 19 the 80 men and women that earned All-American honors. Of the 40 women that earned the honor, the Providence College women's cross country team had three student-athletes honored. Freshman Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland), junior Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) and junior Laura Nagel(Napier, New Zealand) were named to the elite group.
Collins led the Friars by finishing 10th in a time of 19:50.7. Sisson was close behind Collins, finishing 15th (20:00.1). Sisson's showing was impressive as it was just her third start of the season. Nagel finished 35th as the Friars' next scorer in a time of 20:12.5.
To be named an All-American student-athletes had to finish in the top-40 at the NCAA National Championships. The BIG EAST conference had four female athletes in the top-40.
