The Providence College women's cross country team will send ten competitors to the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn. to compete on Friday, Oct. 25. The women's 3k race will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Stanley Quarter Park.
Seniors Grace Thek (Melbourne, Austrlia), Jackie McCarthy (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Elizabeth DeVivo (Riverside, Conn.) and Molly McCann (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), along with juniors Julie Solimine (Haverhill, Mass.), Devyn Pryor (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Caile Kohlbrenner (Sparkhill, N.Y.) will help lead sophomores Katie Powell (Wrentham, Mass.) and Katie Sischo (Jamesville, N.Y.) and freshman Keelin Hollowood (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). in a race against 15 other teams.
Last season, the Friars claimed a second place finish (out of 14 teams) at the meet with 89 points and two top-ten finishers, including McCarthy, who ran the race in a time of 10:37 for a tenth place finish. Powell, DeVivo, Kohlbrenner, McCann and Pryor all helped the Friars earn a second place finish at last year's meet.
Providence will withhold its top seven runners as the team prepares for the BIG EAST Championships that will take place in Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The team will use the Central Connecticut Meet to help determine the final two runners that will join the top-seven at the BIG EAST Championships.
