PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Freshman Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) was named BIG EAST women’s cross country Athlete of the Week for a second time after running an impressive time at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis.
On Friday, Collins finished sixth on the 6K Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. Her time of 19:50 also helped the Friars to a sixth place team finish in the field of 49 teams.
During week four, Collins earned her first honor when she finished third at the Paul Short Invitational with a time of 20:23, only 25 seconds behind the race winner. The team finished sixth on the day with 167 points, and had two finishers in the top-10. It was the second impressive performance from Collins, who placed third at the Wolfie Invitational two weeks prior, finishing behind teammates, senior Shelby Greany (Suffern, N.Y.) and junior Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand).
The Friar women will participate in the Central Connecticut Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn., on Friday, October 19.
