Women's Cross Country Ranked Seventh In National Cross Country Poll
Oct. 8, 2001 PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's cross country team remained ranked seventh in the country in Monday, October 8's FinishLynx/NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country National Poll. Last week the Friars moved up two spots to the No. 7 position after being ranked No. 9 three weeks ago. PC received a total of 241 without competing in a meet this week. The Friars last competed on September 29 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. where they finished second of 32 teams in the field. Colorado sits atop the poll for the fourth-straight poll period after accumulating 12 of the 13 first-place vote. Stanford remains in the No. 2 spot and received one first-place vote. North Carolina St. remains at No. 3 and Brigham Young is joined at the No. 4 position with Arizona St. Boston College spends their second week at No. 6 after garnered 272 points. The Friars compete next on Friday, October 12 at the New England Championship at Franklin Park, Boston.
