Women's Cross Country Ranked No. 2 In FinishLynx National Poll
Oct. 6, 2004 PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's cross country team is ranked second in the FinishLynx National Poll that was released on Wednesday, October 6. The Friars (378 points, one first-place vote), have been ranked second for four consecutive weeks. Stanford (389 points, 12 first-place votes) maintained its No. 1 position, while Michigan (362 points), Colorado (336 points) and Notre Dame (334 points) round out the top five. The Friars have not competed since September 25 when they recorded an impressive victory at the Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minn. Senior Kim Smith (Auckland, New Zealand) paced the way with a first-place finish for Providence. The Friars will aim for their fourth consecutive victory of the season as they will compete on October 16 at the Penn State Invitational, an event that they have captured the past two seasons.
