Women's Cross Country Ranked 12th in FinishLynx National Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's cross country team received 251 points and fell to No. 12 in the FinishLynx Division I Women's Cross Country National Poll, which was released on Tuesday, September 30.

Brigham Young (385 points) held on to the No. 1 position as it received 10 first-place votes. Notre Dame (373 points) garnered the other three first-place votes and climbed to No. 2. Colorado (353 points), Arizona State (351 points) and North Carolina State (333) round out the top five.

The Friars competed at the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, September 27 in Minneapolis, Minn. and finished fourth of 26 teams. Junior Kimberly Smith (Auckland, New Zealand) won the individual title and became the third runner at Providence to win the Roy Griak Invitational crown and the first since Sara Dupre did it in 1997.

The Friars return to action on Friday, October 17th at the Penn State Meet.
