Women's and Men's Cross Country Ranked 3rd and 6th Nationally
September 29, 1998 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's cross country team is ranked No. 3 in the country, according to the NCAA Women's Cross Country Poll released on Monday, Sept. 28. PC's men's team is ranked sixth, according to the latest NCAA Poll released Tuesday, Sept. 29. The women's team, which was ranked sixth in Preseason Poll released on Aug. 31, returns to action on Oct. 16 at the New England Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The Friars have won seven New England Championships since 1988. In the squad's last race on September 26, the Friars defeated 17 teams to capture the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn. The PC men's team will try to win its 19th New England title and first since 1996 on Oct. 16. The men's squad, which was ranked 14th in the Preseason Poll released on Sept. 17, moved up to sixth in the latest poll after defeating 20 teams to win its first Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 26.
