PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's cross country team moved up five spots to 13th in the FinishLynx Division I Women's Cross Country National Poll, released on Monday, September 23. The Friars, who were ranked 14th in the preseason poll and 18th last week, achieved their highest ranking of the season this week.

Providence received 223 points, while Brigham Young remained at No. 1 with 390 points and all 13 first place votes. Georgetown, Stanford, Colorado and Notre Dame round out the top-five.

The Friars, who have won their first two meets this season, will be in Minneapolis, Minn. on Saturday, September 28 at the Roy Griak Invitational. Last season, the Friars finished second at the Roy Griak Invitational.

Senior All-American Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) has placed first in the two meets this season. On September 6, McGettigan crossed the finish line first at the University of New Hampshire Invitational in a time of 19:36. Most recently, McGettigan recorded a time of 19:05 as she won the Dartmouth Invitational on September 14.
