Sept. 15, 2015

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its first national poll of the season, outside of the preseason rankings, today (Sept. 15). The Providence College women received a No. 8 ranking, while the men remain ranked 25th in the nation, both holding their preseason ranking spots.

After the first two meets of the season, the Providence men and women are undefeated. The women won the UNH Tri-Meet with a total of 16 points after the top-5 runners finished in the top-6. The following week, they captured the top-5 spots at the Nassaney Invitational for a sweep and perfect 15-point score.

On the men’s side, the Friars swept the top-5 spots at UNH and then placed their top-5 runners in the top-13 at the Nassaney Invitational.

Next up, the women will compete on Friday, Sept. 25 when they travel to Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, while the men will travel to Princeton, N.J. on Oct. 3 for the Princeton Invitational.
