Men's And Women's Cross Country Teams Ranked In USTFCCCA Division I Cross Country Poll
Sept. 12, 2006 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams are ranked in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association National Poll. The men's team starts the season ranked 30th in the poll, while the women's team is ranked 20th. Last season, the Friar men's cross country team finished third at the BIG EAST Championship and sent three individuals to the NCAA Championships, including current team member Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland), who finished in 16th place overall and garnered All-America honors. The women's program placed second at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship in 2005 and finished 16th in the team standings at the NCAA Championship. Both teams opened the 2006 campaign with a dual meet victory over New Hampshire on September 2. Providence returns to action on Friday, September 15 at the Boston College Invitational. Competition is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. and will take place at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
