PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior cross country stand-out Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Saskatchewan) earned BIG EAST Conference Athlete of the Week honors for her performance at the New Hampshire Dual Meet on August 30 in Durham, N.H.

Doetzel led the Friars to a season-opening team victory in the 2008 season opener as she finished first at the 5K course on the campus of UNH. She completed the event in a time of 16:40.

Each week, the BIG EAST Conference will select a male and female BIG EAST Athlete of the Week in cross country. Last season, Doetzel earned All-America honors for the second time in her collegiate running career in cross country.
