    Cross Country Captures University of Rhode Island Invitational

    KINGSTON, R.I. -- The fourth-ranked Providence College women's cross country team defeated three schools to win its 12th consecutive University of Rhode Island Invitational on Saturday, September 13.

    Providence was led by junior Sarah Dupre of Kingston, Ontario who finished first and in a time of 17:59. The Friars, dominated the meet as they captured the first four positions. Sophomore Dana Ostrander of Ballston Lake, N.Y. (second - 18:15), freshman Cory Roos of Manlius, N.Y. (third - 18:35), Gladys Ganiel of Harrington, Maine (fourth - 18:46) and freshman Stephanie O'Reilly of Wicklow, Ireland (seventh - 19:13) all scored for the Friars.

    The Friars return to action on Sept. 27 at the University of Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
