Providence Captures New England Championship
Team Wins Seventh Crown
BOSTON, Mass. -- The fifth-ranked Providence College women's cross country team captured the New England Championship on Friday, October 17 at Franklin Park in Boston Mass. The women's team scored 45 points and won its second consecutive New England crown and seventh overall.
The Friars were led by junior Sarah Dupre of Kingston, Ontario who finished second in a time of 16:59. Also scoring for the Friars were freshman Rachel Hixson of Media, Pa. (fifth - 17:22), junior Gladys Ganiel of Harrington, Maine (ninth - 17:37), sophomore Dana Ostrander of Ballston Lake, N.Y. (10th - 17:39) and senior Maria McCambridge of Dublin, Ireland (19th - 17:56).
The women's team returns to action on Oct. 31 at the BIG EAST Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in New York, N.Y.
