Friar Women's Cross Country Place Third At Penn State National Meet

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Due to inclement weather, the Penn State National meet was moved to Lock Haven University on Friday, October 16. Providence placed third with a total of 74 points, behind #16 Penn State in second and #3 West Virginia who claimed victory with 27 points. The Friars were led by freshman Shelby Greany (Suffern, N.Y.) and sophomore Hannah Davidson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) who placed sixth in a time of 20:50 and seventh in 20:57, respectively, over the six-kilometer course.

Providence as a team placed six runners in the top-26. Not far behind Greany and Davidson was junior Emma Perron (West Hartford, Conn.) in 17th place with a time of 21:17. Senior Breffini Twohig (Dublin, Ireland) placed 20th (21:23) and senior Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) rounded out the top-five scorers in 24th-place in a time of 21:30.

The next race for the women's cross country squad will be the BIG EAST Championship in Milwaukee, Wisc. on Friday, October 31.
