Women's Cross Country Finishes Fifth In Blue Team Race At Pre Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Women's Blue Team Race Results (Team/Indiv.) - Pre Nationals - October 14, 2006
The Providence College women's cross country team competed at Pre Nationals on Saturday, October 14. The meet was hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind. Pre Nationals consisted of 73 teams, which was split into a blue team race (37 teams) and a white team race (36 teams). The Friars finished fifth in the blue team race with a total of 247 points. Sophomore Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Saskatchewan) led the Friar effort with a 17th-place finish in a time of 20:38.5. Stanford placed first in the team standings with 45 points. Minnesota was second (200 points), followed by Arizona State (224 points) and Brigham Young (242 points). Also scoring for Providence was sophomore Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.Y.), freshman Breffini Twohig (Dublin, Ireland), graduate student Aine Hoban (Wakefield, England) and freshman Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine). DiCamillo finished the race in 35th place with a time of 20:54.9. Twohig placed 42nd (21:02.4), Hoban finished 46th (21:04.0) and Douglas took 107th (21:43.7).
Providence returns to action on Friday, October 27 at the BIG EAST Conference Cross Country Championships held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
