Cross Country Competes At New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the New England Championships on Saturday, October 7 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. While Head Coach Ray Treacy's varsity A-Team prepares for Pre Nationals on October 14 in Terre Haute, Ind., members of the B-Team were given the opportunity to compete at the Championship. Two runners competed on the men's side. Senior Matt Kinback (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished 44th overall with a time of 25:32. Junior Chris McDermott (West Haven, Conn.) placed 95th in a time of 25:58. On the women's side, Providence finished 19th in the team standings in the field of 46 teams with a total of 595 points. Sophomore Sarah Morgan (Waikato, New Zealand) led the Friars with a 25th-place finish in a time of 18:21. Sophomore Kate Campbell (Auckland, New Zealand) finished 38th with a time of 18:33. Also scoring for PC was freshman Lauren Riley (113th, 19:23), freshman Kate Tomlinson (197th, 20:06) and senior Bernadette Boyle (222nd, 20:21). The Friar men's and women's cross country teams return to action at Pre Nationals on October 14 in Terre Haute, Ind.
