Providence Women's Cross Country Squad Place Third At Ted Owen Invitational
Sept. 26, 2009 NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Providence College women's cross country squad tied for third-place at the Ted Owen Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State University at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Connecticut on Saturday, September 26. The Friars scored 78 points to finish tied for third overall with Bryant University. The University of Rhode Island won the team competition with 32 points with Central Connecticut State University second with 69 points and AIC was fifth overall with 101 points. The Friars were led by freshman Darlene Gaudet (Londonderry, N.H.) who placed eighth in a time of 18:45.22. Junior Christina Conley (Andover, Mass.) placed 10th (19:05.57) and senior Amie Schumacher (19:06.65) was close behind in 11th place. The next race for the Friars is the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, October 2 in South Bend, Indiana. The Women will race at 4:15 pm and men at 5pm, where the top-8 individuals for PC's men and women team will compete.
