DURHAM, N.H. - The women's cross country team opened its season with three victories defeating New Hampshire, Boston College, and Georgia College. The Friars took the top-four places in the race. The team was led by Senior Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Sask.), who won the race in 16:40. Junior Breffini Twohig (Dublin, Ireland) placed second, coming through in a time of 17:30. Freshmen, Mary Kate Champagne (Plattsburg, N.Y.) and Hannah Davidson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished third and fourth respectively. Sophomore Emma Perron (West Hartford, Conn.) finished 8th, rounding out the top-five scorers on the Friars squad.

The next race for the Friars is Saturday, September 20, when the they compete at the Iona Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
