    Position:
    Assistant Coach

Entering his third year as the Head Men’s Track and Field Coach and the primary field events coach, Nick Jackson is once again a part of Providence College’s successful cross country and track and field programs.

A 1995 graduate of the College, Jackson guided Brooke Freeburg to the school’s first-ever female BIG EAST Championship in a field event and All-America honors in the javelin during the 2001 outdoor season. Freeburg earned her All-America honors with a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Championship, held in Eugene, Ore. In 2002, Freeburg finished second at the BIG EAST Championship and finished 19th at the NCAA Championship in Baton Rouge, La.

Jackson also assisted Program Director Ray Treacy during the cross country season, helping both the men’s and women’s teams reach the NCAA Cross Country Championship and finish in the Top-10.

Before he returned to Providence, Jackson served as the Head Boy’s and Girl’s Indoor and Outdoor Track Coach at Bishop Stang High School during the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

Prior to coaching at Bishop Stang, Jackson worked in the Office of Admissions at PC for three years. His work in the Providence Admissions Office helped prepare him for a major portion of his position, recruiting student-athletes to the PC cross country/track and field program.

While a student at Providence from 1992 through 1995, Jackson competed for the Friar track and cross-country program, earning All-BIG EAST, All-New England and All-IC4A honors. He finished second at the New England Cross Country Championships to earn All-New England honors, was second in the indoor 3,000 meters to earn All-IC4A honors and he was second in the outdoor 5,000 at BIG EAST Championship to earn All-BIG EAST honors. He also won the 1,500 meters at the 1990 New Zealand Junior Championships. Jackson was a member of the 1992 BIG EAST Conference Cross Country Championship team and was a member of the squad that finished third at the NCAA's. Jackson was a member of two relay teams which established school records: the 4 x 1,500 which was set at the Penn Relays in 1993 and the Mile Relay which was set at a meet at UMass.

Jackson earned a master's degree in counseling from Providence College in May of 2002. He and his wife, Robyn, reside in Glocester.
