Providence College Women's Cross Country Ranked No. 5
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College women's cross country squad is ranked No. 5 in the country, according to the NCAA Women's Cross Country Poll released on Monday, November 3. The PC men's team moved into the national poll and is ranked 19th, according to the latest NCAA Poll released Tuesday, November 4.
The women's team returned to action on Friday, October 31 and captured its third consecutive BIG EAST title at Van Cortlandt Park in New York, N.Y. The Friars were led by junior Sarah Dupre (Kingston, Ontario) who finished fifth in a time of 17:26. Also scoring for PC were freshman Rachel Hixson of Media, Pa. (eighth - 17:50), sophomore Dana Ostrander of Ballston, Lake, N.Y. (ninth - 17:52), senior Maria McCambridge of Dublin, Ireland (13th - 18:08) and junior Gladys Ganiel of Harrington, Maine (17th - 18:15).
In its most recent race, the Providence College men's cross country team finished second at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship on Oct. 31 at Van Cortlandt Park in New York, N.Y. Junior Ben Noad (Bristol, England) led the men's team, finishing second in a time of 25:00. Junior Zack Ventress of Spokane, Wash. (ninth - 25:18), sophomore Keith Kelly of Drogheda, Ireland (14th - 25:32), junior Rick Bush of Clifton Park, N.Y. (18th - 25:40) and sophomore Larry Morrissey of Waterford, Ireland (31st - 26:00) also scored for Providence.
The PC men's and women's teams will return to action on Nov. 15 at the NCAA District I Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
