PC Women's Cross Country Ranked No. 6 Nationally
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's cross country squad is ranked No. 6 in the country, according to the NCAA Women's Cross Country Poll released on Monday, October 19.
On Friday, October 17, the Friars captured the New England Championship at Franklin Park in Boston Mass. Providence scored 45 points and won its seventh New England title.
The Friars were led by junior Sarah Dupre of Kingston, Ontario who finished second in a time of 16:59. Also scoring for the Friars were freshman Rachel Hixson of Media, Pa. (fifth - 17:22), junior Gladys Ganiel of Harrington, Maine (ninth - 17:37), sophomore Dana Ostrander of Ballston Lake, N.Y. (10th - 17:39) and senior Maria McCambridge of Dublin, Ireland (19th - 17:56).
The women's team returns to action on Oct. 31 at the BIG EAST Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in New York, N.Y.
