Volleyball’s Root Named To All-BIG EAST Second Team

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The BIG EAST announced its annual regular season awards on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Providence College volleyball sophomore Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team for her efforts this season. Root has had a major impact on the Friars in her first season with the team. Root has led the team in kills (416), service aces (36), points (416) is third on the team in digs (258).

In the BIG EAST, the sophomore outside hitter ranks third in service aces per set (.31), fifth in kills per set (3.59) and fifth in points per set (4.01).

Root was essential to the success of the Friar team this season. She led the team in kills in 22 matches and twice recorded 21 kills. A defensive threat as well, Root recorded double digit digs and kills in the same match on nine different occasions.
