Nov. 14, 2008

Providence, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team signed 2009 recruit Cassandra Muzzonigro on Wednesday, November 12. The Gibsonia, Pa. native is the team's first signed player for next season.

Muzzonigro is a 5-7 defensive specialist and three-year letterwinner at Pine Richland High School in Gibsonia. She earned second team all-section honors as a junior and honorable mention accolades as a senior, despite battling through an injury for much of the season. Muzzonigro co-captained Pine Richland in 2008 and led the team to a runner-up finish in the WPIAL finals and a berth in the state tournament.

While at Pine Richland, Muzzonigro was a member of the National Honor Society and also played club volleyball for Renaissance VBC in Pittsburgh.

"We are very happy that Cassie is a Friar," Providence Head Coach Margot Royer said. "She is a great fit in every way."
