PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team (1-27, 0-10) will host the University of Rhode Island Rams on Wednesday, November 7 in Providence, R.I. The match will be televised on Cox on a tape delay.
The Friars are coming off of a three set loss on the road to Stony Brook on Friday, November 2. The Friars were led offensively by sophomore Kelly Ashmore (St. Louis, Mo.) who had a team-high nine kills while adding seven digs. Freshman Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) collected a team-high 21 assists and added three kills and five digs. Senior Cassie Muzzonigro (Gibsonia, Pa.) led all players with 14 digs. Muzzonigro has collected 415 digs to leads the Friars this season.
Scouting Rhode Island (10-16, 6-7 Atlantic 10): The Rams split their matches over the past weekend, losing to Duquesne on Friday, November 2 in straight sets before defeating George Washington in a come-from-behind five set victory. Rhode Island will travel to Fordham on Saturday, November 10 where they need a win and outside help to clinch one of the two remaining spots in the Atlantic 10 conference tournament. The Rams are led by Catie Steffen with 303 kills, while Annie Nelson and Kelly Rosenberg have each amassed over 400 assists this season, with 496 and 413 respectively. \
The match will air on tape delay on Cox three times, all at 7:00 p.m. The match will be televised on Saturday, November 10, Tuesday, November 13 and Thursday, November 15.
The Friars have two games later in the week that will close out the conference schedule for the Friars, with games on Friday, November 9 and Sunday, November 11. On Friday the Friars will play the Albany Great Danes on the road before hosting the Hartford Hawks in the season finale on Sunday.
