Providence, R.I. -

The Providence College volleyball team will travel to Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. to take on St. Francis College on Friday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. PC enters the match with an 11-11 record, while the Terriers are 0-22.

The Friars are coming off a 3-0 home loss to Central Connecticut on Tuesday, October 14. Senior Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) paced the Friars with a solid all-around game against the Blue Devils. The co-captain registered six kills, nine assists, seven digs and a service ace. Sheehan also posted a .455 hitting percentage for the match. Senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Friar offense with nine kills and added two blocks.

In tonight’s contest, Toney has a chance to make a move in the Friar record books. The 5-10 middle blocker needs only two blocks to tie Jennifer Winslow for second place on the PC all-time blocks list. She currently has 395 for her career.

St. Francis (N.Y.) is led by senior Detelina Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria). The 6-1 middle blocker leads the Terriers with 128 kills and ranks second on the team with 21 total blocks. Sophomore Liliana Rodriguez (Linden, N.J.) is the team’s defensive leader with 255 digs on the year.

Friday’s contest is the first of a two-game road swing for the Friars. On Tuesday, October 21, PC travels to in-state rival Bryant for a 7:00 p.m. match.
