The Providence College volleyball team (10-11, 3-2 America East) will host Saint Peter's in a non-conference matchup at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Alumni Hall. The Peacock's are 3-19 on the season and have lost their last eight matches. The Friars hold a 5-3 record at home this season.
The Friars went 1-1 this past weekend, losing to New Hampshire (3-0) on Friday and picking up a win against UMass-Lowell (3-1), on Sunday.
In the conference, freshman Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) leads the America East in digs per set with 4.49. She also ranks second in service aces per set at .47, which is 18th in the nation. Sophomore Lindsay Witt (Basking Ridge, N.J.) ranks second in blocks (.95 per set) and fourth in hitting percentage (.278). Junior Mackenzie Ziegler (Portage, Wis.) ranks third in the conference in kills with 2.72 per set. Freshman Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) ranks fourth in service aces (.36) and also falls tenth in kills (2.51) and digs (2.91). Sophomore Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) is currently third in assists with 9.41.
SCOUTING SAINT PETER'S: The Peacock's are led by Lauren Behrens who averages 2.54 kills per set. Kristina Baehr leads the team in assists with 7.47 per set and Jennifer Pliska averages 4.57 digs per set, defensively. In away games the Peacock's are 0-7. Their wins on the season have come against Farleigh Dickinson (3-1), St. Francis (N.Y.) (3-1) and Niagara (3-2).
