Volleyball Set To Play Villanova

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's volleyball team will host the Villanova Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 14 at Alumni Hall on the campus of Providence College. The match will be streamed live via Friars All-Access, which is a subscription service provided on the College's athletic website at www.Friars.com

Tomorrow's match will be a "White Out" game. Fans are encouraged to come wearing White Friar gear. Following the match, stick around for a chance to get autographs from the team and Coach Margot Royer-Johnson.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE: The Providence College Friars begin the match with a 10-10 (1-5 BIG EAST) record on the season. The Friars played host to St. John's on Oct. 10 and fell in straight sets (22-25, 13-25, 15-25). The Friars are led by Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.), who has collected 273 digs on the season. On attack, Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) has recorded 244 kills and 164 digs. Freshman Emily Horner (Mission Viejo, Calif.) has tallied 146 kills. Joran Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) has notched 557 assists and freshman Catherine Harding (Kalamazoo, Mich.) has put up 169.

SCOUTING VILLANOVA: The Villanova Wildcats enter the match with a 16-4 (6-1 BIG EAST) overall record. The Wildcats took down Butler in five sets on Oct. 10 and maintain second place in the BIG EAST. Sophomore Allie Loitz leads the Wildcats with 251 kills and 163 digs and was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Oct. 12. Villanova's digs leader is sophomore Allison Fitzgerald (204). Senior setter Emma Pettit has tallied 794 assists on the season.
