The Providence College volleyball team will compete at the Cougar Invitational in Chicago, Ill., on Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4. The Friars look to improve on their 8-9 record with a match against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Friday at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, PC battles Quinnipiac at 12:00 p.m. and Chicago State at 3:00 p.m.

The Friars are coming off a 3-0 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, October 1. Against the Knights, senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted her second consecutive double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. The 5-10 middle blocker now has 159 kills and 73 digs on the year. Freshman Chelsey Thompson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) contributed a strong all-around effort for Providence with three kills, three digs and two service aces.

PC continues to benefit from the strong defensive play of senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.). Against Fairleigh Dickinson, Krahenbuhl registered 11 digs. The 5-7 defensive specialist now has 214 digs on the season and has posted double-digit dig totals in each of her last five matches.
