Providence, R.I. -

The Providence College volleyball team will square off against Manhattan on Wednesday, September 24 at 6:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gymnasium. The Friars enter the match with a record of 7-8 while the Lady Jaspers are 1-8. Providence fans can watch the match live through the subscription service on Friars.com.

The Friars posted a 1-2 record at the Fifth Annual Friar Classic this past weekend. On Friday, Sept. 19, the Friars fell to Sacred Heart, 3-2. Senior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) played her best all-around match of the season against the Pioneers, registering a double-double with 24 assists and a season-high 16 digs.

On Saturday, Sept. 20, Providence defeated Coppin State, 3-0, and lost to Texas-El Paso, 3-0. Against Coppin State, Sheehan posted three service aces, passing Aileen Koprowski and moving into second place on the Friar all-time service aces list with 147. In the setback to UTEP, senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.) paced the Friars defensively, recording 13 digs. The 5-7 defensive specialist ranks first on the team with 189 digs on the year.

Sheehan is rapidly moving up the Friar record books in yet another category: assists. The 5-8 senior setter needs only 24 against Manhattan to pass Susan Fanning and move into sole possession of third place on PC's all-time assists list.

Senior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) continues to put up big numbers for the Friar offense. The 6-0 middle blocker leads Providence with 172 kills on the year and is hitting at a blistering .470 clip. Flynn currently ranks 15th nationally in hitting percentage. Against Coppin State, Flynn posted 14 kills, leading PC to a 3-0 victory in the Friar Classic.
