Providence, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team will play host to Texas-El Paso, Coppin State and Sacred Heart in the Fifth Annual Friar Classic this weekend. PC faces Sacred Heart on Friday, Sept. 19 at 8:00 p.m. and battles Coppin State (11:00 a.m.) and UTEP (5:00 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 20. Fans can watch the Providence/Coppin State match live via subscription service on Friars.com. In the team’s last match on Sept. 16, PC was defeated by Brown, 3-0. Junior Abby Majewski (Sunderland, Mass.) played a strong all-around game for the Friars. The 5-9 outside hitter registered eight digs, five kills and a service ace and now ranks fifth on the team in both digs (40) and kills (53). Co-captain Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) is quickly moving up in the Friar record books. The 5-8 senior setter needs only one service ace against Sacred Heart on Friday to pass Aileen Koprowski and move into sole possession of second place on PC’s all-time service aces list. All matches in the tournament will be played at Mullaney Gymnasium in Alumni Hall on the Providence College campus.
