Providence, R.I. - In game one of day one of the Fourth Annual Friar Volleyball Classic, the Sacred Heart Pioneers swept the Coppin State Eagles, 3-0. The win was the first victory of the season for Sacred Heart (1-7). The Pioneers were led by freshman Mydori Saipale (Oxnard, Calif.) with a match-high 12 kills and 11 digs. Joining Saipale in double-figures for Sacred Heart was senior Christine Duffy (Massapequa, N.Y.) with 11 kills and sophomore Alex Bavasi (Flagstaff, Ariz.) with 10 kills. Freshman setter Courtney Kidd-Kadlubek (Santa Barbara, Calif.) recorded a match-high 36 assists. Senior middle-hitter Indira Laurencin (Castries, St. Lucia) led Coppin State with 11 kills. Senior Danyel Davis (Oakland, Calif.) also registered double-figure kills with 10. Junior setter Lauren Lacey (Kalamazoo, Mich.) tallied 20 assists and seven digs.
