PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College volleyball sophomore setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) was named the Division I National Independent Volleyball Co-Setter of the Week on Tuesday, September 5, for her performance last week.

Sheehan averaged 10.9 assists per game and totaled 109 assists in three matches. She also helped lead PC to a 2-1 record this past week. In a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross, Sheehan had a match-high 42 assists. She also had a match-high 35 assists in a 3-0 win against Sacred Heart. Sheehan is second in Division I Independent Volleyball with 10.9 assists per game.

Providence is currently ranked 10th in the Nation and is leading Independent Volleyball in digs per game with an average of 20.4. Sophomore Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is leading Independent Volleyball in blocks per game with 1.5 through 10 games played.

Providence will travel to Baltimore, Md. on Friday, September 8 and play against Navy (2 p.m.) and Youngstown State (4 p.m.). PC also will play on Saturday, September 9 against La Salle (11 am) and an opponent yet to be determined.
