The Providence College volleyball team makes its home debut on Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:00 p.m. against Holy Cross in Mullaney Gymnasium. Fans can follow the game by utilizing the Game Tracker feature on Friars.com.
The Friars went 2-2 in the Tiny Laster Memorial Tournament in Hampton, Va. over the weekend. On Friday, August 29, PC fell to Canisius, 3-0, but rebounded with a win over South Carolina State, 3-1. The Friars then defeated host Hampton, 3-0, and fell to South Dakota, 3-0, on Saturday.
Two Friars etched their name into the PC record books during the Tiny Laster Tournament. Senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded eight blocks against Canisius, moving her past Heidi Brady and into fourth place on the all-time list with 330. Against South Carolina State, senior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) recorded 36 assists, sending her past Kristen Kam into fourth place on PC’s all-time list with 2,443. Her four service aces also moved her into third place on Providence’s all-time aces list.
Senior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) paced Providence with 55 kills and an impressive .500 hitting percentage in the team’s four matches. Defensively, senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Los Angeles, Calif.) leads the Friars with 50 digs on the year. Sheehan is the team’s leading setter, recording 132 assists over 15 games.
