Margot Royer-Johnson Leads USA Athletes International Team In Netherlands

    Providence, R.I. - Providence College head women's volleyball coach Margot Royer-Johnson recently returned from a trip to Amsterdam, Soeste and Groningen in the Netherlands, where she coached a group of student-athletes for the USA Athletes International.

    During June 3-11, the team, which consisted of eight players from seven different U.S. Universities played in 11 matches. Two of the players on the team were Providence sophomores Kelly Ashmore (St. Louis, Mo.) and Beth Hoyt (San Luis Obispo, Calif.).

    While in the Netherlands, the group was given the opportunity to take in the culture of the country. Activities included visiting and touring a windmill, the Heineken brewery, the Anne Frank museum, and cheering for the Netherlands in the World Cup soccer competition vs. Denmark.
