Volleyball Inks Scholastic Standout to National Letter of Intent
April 24, 2003 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Head Coach Margot Royer has announced the signing of Kerry Schulz (Fairfield, Conn.) to a National Letter of Intent. Schulz, a 5-foot, 11-inch right side, is the first signed recruit for the Providence College volleyball team's class of 2007. Schulz is a senior at Fairfield High School, where she is a member of the volleyball and women's tennis teams. She also excels in the classroom and has been recognized on the school's Head Master's List for high honors. Schulz was a member of Fairfield's state runner-up volleyball team in 2002 and state & league championship team in 2000. This season, under the guidance of coach Janice Mayeran, Schulz was named to the first-team all-league, all-state, All-Connecticut Post and All-Hartford Courant teams. In addition, Schulz plays for the Connecticut Juniors club as a member of the 17's National Team and 18's National Team.
"We are really excited that Kerry will be with us this fall," Royer said. "She will make an immediate impact for us. She has great hands and will make a good right side for us. Her height and her strong hitting arm are unique to a person with the hands of a setter. Her intensity on the court will be a boost for our young squad."
