PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College women's volleyball Head Coach Margot Royer-Johnson announced that student-athletes Nicole Fletcher (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) have signed their National Letters of Intent to attend Providence College on Wednesday, April 11. Fletcher and Wiesler join the volleyball team's class of 2016 which already includes Lindsay Witt (Basking Ridge, N.J.), who signed her NLI in November to compete for the Friars beginning in the fall of 2012.
"Nicole is a great get for us," Coach Royer-Johnson said. "She moves well laterally and learns the game quickly. She has an athlete mentality and she will compete for a starting role in her freshman season."
Fletcher is a middle blocker and collected three varsity letters in volleyball during her playing career at Marcellus High School. Over a 161-game high school career, Fletcher collected 449 kills and 191 blocks. A National Honors Society inductee and high honor roll student in high school, Fletcher will be entering Providence College as an undecided major. Fletcher's older sister, Lauren, will graduate this spring after completing one of the most decorated careers in Friar volleyball history.
"Jordan is a great signee for us" Coach Royer-Johnson said. "She is quick, has great hands, and a lot of experience as a leader on the court. She is extremely enthusiastic and competitive and will help us immediately. We couldn't be happier that Jordan is part of the Friar family."
Wiesler is a setter and currently plays club ball for the Tribe Volleyball Club. Wiesler earned two varsity letters in volleyball while at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. In 2010, she was named to the 2011 Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Team and was named the BCAA 2011 All-Star Most Valuable Player after helping lead her team to the 2011 7A District and Regional Championships. A National Honors Society inductee in high school, Wiesler will be entering Providence College as an biochemistry major.
