April 12, 2007

The Providence College volleyball team signed Meredith Gent for the 2007 season on Wednesday, April 11. She joins a young squad next season that has already added four newcomers Sondra Snyder, Torey Broback, Kourtney Halliday and Kristen Halliday.

Gent is a 6'0" outside hitter from Reading, MA. She played for Andrew Vigelli at Reading Memorial HS and for Dan Young with Latitude 42 volleyball club. She was named North Shore Conference player of the year and Middlesex League MVP in her senior season. Gent also played basketball at Reading Memorial. She was a national merit scholarship candidate in high school.

"Meredith has great athleticism and we are confident she will develop into a strong player for us. Her height makes her valuable at this level and her passion for learning the game will be great for us," said Head Coach Margot Royer.
