Providence Women's Volleyball swept by URI
KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College women's's volleyball team dropped
three straight games to the University of Rhode Island 6-15, 3-15,11-15 at the
University of Rhode Island Subway Classic Tournament.
Though the match was just under an hour and a half, it showcased plenty of
offense with more than 100 kills between the two teams.
In a losing cause, Sherryl Jones provided some offensive punch with a team-high
12 kills and 12 digs. Rachel Doxtater also contributed with 9 kills and 7 digs.
Sharing the setting duties were Kristen Kam and Colleen Lee who dished out 15
and 19 assists respectively.
For the victors, four different players had kills in the double digits, with
Carrie Gangl leading the pack with 18. Jessica Salmans also sparked the attack
with 49 assists.
With the loss, Providence hangs on to a winning record of 6-5, while URI
improves to 5-3.
