Orem, Utah - The Providence College volleyball team lost to NJIT, 3-0, on Friday, November 21 in the team's first match of the National Independent Tournament played at Orem, Utah. The Highlanders won the match with game scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 26-24. With the victory, NJIT moves to 18-13 while PC drops to 15-17.

Senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.) recorded eight digs in the match and now has 469 digs for the 2008 season. The total ranks second all-time at Providence for digs in a season, behind Amanda Little's 627 in 2005.

Offensively, senior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) paced the Friar attack with 11 kills, hitting at a .385 clip. The 6-0 middle blocker leads the team with 371 kills on the season. Senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added nine kills and seven digs. With the three games in the match, Toney moved past Heidi Brady and into third place on Providence's all-time games played list with 444.

Providence plays three more matches in the National Independent Tournament. The Friars are back in action today at 3:00 p.m. against Utah Valley State and play Texas-Pan American (10:00 a.m.) and Cal State-Bakersfield (2:00 p.m.) on Saturday, November 22.
