The Providence College volleyball team fell to Albany (20-25, 11-25, 25-23, 14-25) in four sets on November 6 in Providence, R.I. Senior Lauren Fletcher led the Friars with 12 kills on the day.
Albany took the first set, 25-20, behind Casey Wright's six kills on seven total attacks (.857). Brooke Stanley registered 18 assists to help the Great Danes to a team hitting percentage of .245. Fletcher led the Friars with four kills in the set, while Carly Morrison collected 10 assists.
Albany controlled the second set with a 25-11 victory as Providence managed just six kills. Wright led the way for the Great Danes with four kills, while Stanley recorded 10 assists.
The Friars battled to take the third set, 25-23, behind an impressive six-kill performance by Fletcher. She hit for .455 in the set and was aided by Morrison's solid effort as the team's setter. Morrison recorded 15 assists and led the team to a .316 hitting percentage in the set. Stanley matched Morrison with 15 assists for Albany and Wright registered six kills. The score was tied 15 times in the set and there were six lead changes.
Albany regained control of the match in the fourth set, defeating the Friars, 25-14. Lauren Hendel recorded three kills for the Friars. Samantha Brostrom registered six kills for Albany.
The Friars return to action on November 11 against Stony Brook at 7:00 p.m. The match will be played at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
