PROVIDENCE, R.I. -The Providence College volleyball team (1-24, 0-7) was defeated by the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (13-10, 5-2) on Saturday, October 20 in Providence, R.I. in straight sets, 25-12, 25-16 and 25-20. Earlier this season the teams met in Durham, N.H. where the Friars fell in straight sets.
For the Friars, freshman Lindsay Witt (Basking Ridge, N.J.) collected three kills and accumulated a .375 hitting percentage. Sophomore Colleen McCollom (Indian Head Park, Ill.) led the Friars with 12 kills and added seven digs. Freshman Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) had a team-high 26 assists, while senior Cassie Muzzonigro (Gibsonia, Pa.) tied for a match-high with 13 digs. The Wildcats were led by Victoria Forrest who had a double-double (10k, 12d) and Taylor Dunklau who had a match-high 38 assists.
The Friars will continue their four game home stand with two matches next weekend. On Friday, October 26 the Friars will host the UMBC Retrievers at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 28 the Friars will play at home versus the Binghamton Bearcats at 1:00 p.m.
