Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. - The Providence College volleyball team defeated St. Francis (N.Y.), 3-0, on Friday, October 17 in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. The Friars won the match with game scores of 25-9, 25-8 and 25-18. With the victory, PC improves to 12-11 while St. Francis drops to 0-23. The win was Providence’s fourth in its last five matches. Senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) reached an important career milestone in the Friar triumph. Toney’s seven blocks moved her past Jennifer Winslow and into second place on Providence’s all-time list. The 5-10 middle blocker now has 402 blocks for her career. In addition, Toney added a team-best 14 kills to lead the Friars. Also contributing to the Friar attack was senior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.). The 6-0 middle blocker recorded 11 kills, hitting at a season-high .786 clip. On the year, Flynn’s .408 hitting percentage continues to be among the top averages in the country. Defensively, senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.) recorded 19 digs. Senior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) contributed 28 assists and added six digs. The Friars play the second contest of their two-match road trip at in-state rival Bryant on Tuesday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. in Smithfield, R.I.
