PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Providence College volleyball team closed out their weekend BIG EAST road trip on Sunday, October 13, 2002 at Pittsburgh, falling to the Panthers, 3-0 (30-18, 30-16, 30-25) at Fitzgerald Field House.

With the loss, Providence drops to 2-19 overall and 0-4 in BIG EAST action. Pittsburgh improves to 15-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

The Friars were led by freshman Katie Fleming (Cary, N.C.), who tied for a match-high with 13 kills on 32 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .250. Sophomore Jennifer Backes (Seaford, N.Y.) had a strong showing on defense, notching 12 digs.

The Friars return to home action on Friday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gymnasium at Alumni Hall for a BIG EAST match against Boston College.
