HAMDEN, Conn. - The Providence College volleyball team defeated the Bobcats of Quinnipiac University on the evening of Wednesday, October 11, 2006. The Friars improve to 8-13 on the season while the Bobcats remain winless at 0-20. The eight wins by Providence is their highest win total since 2000 when the team registered 16 wins. Providence won the games 30-22, 30-16, 35-33.

In the 3-0 victory, the Friars were led by sophomore Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who tied a career-high with 24 kills and added seven total blocks. Sophomore Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) recorded a match-high 40 assists. Sophomore Aida Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) contributed 6 kills and 12 digs.

The Friars return to action with a match at St. Francis (N.Y.) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13 to be followed by a match at St. Peter's at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14.
