    VESTAL, N.Y. - The Providence College volleyball team fell to Binghamton, 3-1, on October 9 in Vestal, N.Y. Senior Lauren Fletcher (Syracuse, N.Y.) led the Friars with 10 kills in the effort.

    Binghamton won the opening set, 25-19, but the Friar rebounded to take the second set, 25-22. With the game tied at one set apiece, Binghamton closed out the match with wins of 25-12 and 25-22.

    Fletcher was the lone Friar with double-digit kills in the game, followed by Lauren Hendel (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.), who had eight. Kelly Ashmore (St. Louis, Mo.) added seven kills. Anne Powers (La Selva Beach, Calif.) and Carly Morrison (Larkspur, Calif.) combined for 27 of the Friars' 30 assists in the match. Libero Cassie Muzzonigro(Gibsonia, Pa.) recorded 12 digs.

    Binghamton featured four players with double-digit kills, led by Grace Vickers (17). Kristin Hovie added 12, while Alex Roland and Annelot Nieuwenhuis each posted 10 kills. Xiomara Ortiz recorded 20 digs, and Amanda Dettmann registered 47 assists.

    The Friars return to action on Friday, October 14 at UMBC. The match is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
