PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Central Connecticut defeated Providence College, 3-0, in volleyball action at Providence, R.I., on Wednesday, October 9. The Blue Devils won by the scores of 33-31, 30-18 and 30-28.

Central Connecticut's sophomore Jennifer Cote registered a match-high 13 kills to lead the Blue Devils. Sophomore Shannon Verity added 12 kills for Central Connecticut.

Providence was led by senior Sandy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.), who posted a team-high 10 kills. She also had 10 digs. Friar freshman Rachel Tucker (Burleson, Texas) recorded a match-high 15 digs.

With the win, Central Connecticut improved to 6-11 overall, while Providence fell to 2-17 overall.

Providence College returns to action on Saturday, October 12 at West Virginia at 2:00 p.m.
