Friar Volleyball Drops Home Opener To Stony Brook

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. --The Providence College volleyball team (1-21, 0-4) fell to the Stony Brook Seawolves (7-10, 2-2) in their home opener on Sunday, October 7. The Friars were defeated in straight sets, 25-11, 25-15 and 25-22.

    Sophomore Colleen McCollom (Indian Head Park, Ill.) led the Friars with 10 kills and added nine digs. Senior Cassie Muzzonigro added to her career digs record total, leading the team with 12 digs. Freshman Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) collected all of the team's 29 assists to lead both teams. For Stony Brook, Melissa Rigo (15 k, 11 d) and Nicole Vogel (25 a, 10 d) both notched double doubles.

    The Friars will play their next match in West Hartford, Conn. on Friday, October 12 when they take on the Hartford Hawks at 6:00 p.m. The team will return home when they host the Albany Great Danes at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14 in Alumni Hall.
